Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Life-Force-Energy. In Japan over 100 years ago, Dr. Usui was given Initiations into Healing Energies during a consciousness-raising experience. From this experience a system of healing developed and since the middle of the twentieth century it has spread across the globe and is practiced in almost every corner of the world. Reiki can be learned and utilised by people of all ages. Even children can learn!
The worldwide spread of Reiki is due to the work of a Japanese-American lady, Hawayo Takata. Prior to World War II, Takata went to Japan, where she was cured of lung, heart, liver and gall bladder problems and then begged the Reiki Masters to teach and attune her, and teach her how to teach others.
Over the past thirty years or so, the Golden Buddha has brought through changes to the Reiki Energy via the Tera Mai School for the Healing Arts. By doing so, the Golden Buddha was continuing and evolving the work of our honoured predecessors to bring about the establishment of Golden Reiki.
Reiki can help us to move through the blockages that prevent our lives from flowing as they should. The energies enhance and empower our own natural ability to heal ourselves. As Reiki is energy channeling, it has no association with religion, faith, or belief systems and can be received by anyone who is willing to receive it. Reiki can be given in a hands-on treatment and can also be sent across time and space to people, situations, plants and animals, known as distance healing.
